Global Database of Port Greening Measures

Project Cluster:

This project creates a broadly accessible database that, rather than assuming/calculating port greeness, allows researchers to choose which green characteristics they want to explore. This project allows researchers to overcome both  a “close study of one port” bias as well as the “becoming green because it’s the right thing to do” bias to allow for analysis of varying causes and effects of decisions by ports initiating green measures. This project requires a systematic investigation into the causes and effects of port greening measures. Examples of subjects included in the database include (but are not limited to) the characterization and extent of port green measures; potential drivers of port green measures; and their effects (environmental and on shipping patterns) based on evidence collected from 2005-present.
