Governance of port container drayage: a global typology and analysis

Project Lead:

This project explores issues related to global port drayage governance and its relation to port greening. More particularly, questions relating to the range and type of port container trucking industry interventions seeking to reduce negative externalities and related use conflicts; how these interventions and practices are organized into overarching governance models; how have these governance models diffused among ports around the world; what are their outcomes across multiple criteria and for different stakeholder groups; and what their determinants are will be examined. This project will ultimately aim to assemble a database using secondary sources on the top 100 container port complexes. This data set will describe the urban-regional context (population, key economic sectors), operational indicators (throughput, systems) and market characteristics of each port complex. The database will be used in the port drayage research, as well as in other partnership projects.
