This chapter investigates the current usage of and future potential for informational tools for governing greenhouse gas emissions from shipping. This chapter illustrates how the usage of informational has seen a proliferation in recent years, yet also remains limited as the likelihood of voluntary compliance remains rare and indicates a need for third party oversight.
